Why June is an important month for UK artists…
Because every four years there is a World Cup to watch to aide you in neglecting work, family, friends, pets and other general loved ones? No.
Because Glastonbury takes over Worthy Farm and the BBC spends roughly 114% of your license fee towards bringing you Tom Jones in HD from several different angles? Not quite.
Because the Bedford International Kite Festival takes place? Way off.
No, it’s because due to the PRS For Music’s rules and regulations, June becomes a crucial month for artists who aren’t already collecting their royalties to either sign up with them, or come on board here at Sentric Music in order to not miss out on any royalties they’ve generated since the 1st January.
Allow me to try and explain as simply as possible…
The PRS has two ‘cut off’ dates every year for new members; 1st January & 1st July. Depending on when an artist registers their songs with the PRS or Sentric Music within these dates depends on how far back an artist can claim for all the gigs they’ve played so far that year.
So for example, if you registered all your songs by the 30th June, you can claim for EVERY gig you’ve played since the 1st January. That’s 6 months of tasty live performance royalties making their way into your bank account.
Whereas if you registered your songs on the 2nd July, you can only claim for the gigs you’ve played from the 1st July. That’s a days’ worth. Not as tasty.
So basically, if you’re an artist who isn’t a member of the PRS or more importantly, SENTRIC MUSIC! Then you really, really, really should sign up right now and give us all the information we need before the 1st July to ensure you don’t miss out on a penny of what is rightly yours from your general artist shenanigans so far this year.
Even if you’ve played one gig in the last six months, you should still come on board.
And if you’re playing Glastonbury this weekend, then you REALLY should sign up as the royalties from a festival like that can be quite a nice bit of pocket money.
And if you’re not an artist, but know someone who is then send them to us. They’ll like you because you’ll have made them money and then they might buy you a beer/coffee/peppermint tea in return.
To start collecting all your royalties with Sentric Music whilst retaining all of your rights and also at the same time opening up your music for potential synchronisation deals then visit www.sentricmusic.com and click on the shiny yellow ‘Sign Up To Sentric’ button in the top right corner.
